Claire Sax

Claire Sax formed her Catering LLC in 2018 to fill a void in the baking and catering industry in Highland and surrounding counties. The goal: high quality, nourishing foods at a reasonable price point. We aim, as often as possible, to use local producers and to build relationships between customers and local farmers.

Owner Claire Sax has always enjoyed cooking and the challenge of entrepreneurship.  Her career on Capitol HIll, Galapagos Conservancy, and George Mason University included planning and running large scale events with high profile guest lists. Claire attended a short term culinary program in the DC Metropolitan area and after starting her own pregnancy & birth services business she incorporated these skills by offering in-home meal preparation for postpartum mothers, mail order “lactation cookies” and catering small family events.

With the move to Highland County, Claire has been able to refocus on the joy of creating nourishing meals and delicious treats.  In 2018, Claire launched her online cookie shop and began selling bakery items at the Highland County Farmers’ Market. During this time, Claire also worked at The Highland Center and took the lead in planning Taste of Highland which had the largest attendance in recent years as well as the most local food participants. Through the planning process, Claire worked with multiple local farmers and has utilized connection in subsequent catering jobs.

Seeing a need for more full scale event planning options in Highland County, the business expanded to offer these services and formed Claire Sax Catering, LLC.  From initial event concept discussions, to mailing invitations, procuring tables/chairs/essential items, event set up, ABC licenses, bartenders, serving help, and ultimate tear down; Claire Sax Catering is a full service business and unlike any in the surrounding areas.

This expansion has allowed her to hire local workers on an “as needed” contract basis and to work closely with local farms for fresh ingredients.  Sourcing many ingredients in Highland County has really impressed clients.
